Healthy Families Michigan

Healthy Families America® (HFA) is one of the leading family support and evidence-based home visiting programs in the United States. HFA believes early, nurturing relationships are the foundation for healthy development. The mission of HFA is to promote child well-being and to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children by delivering home visiting services that empower families and communities.
Healthy Families Michigan (HFM) is a Multi-Site System HFA Affiliate. We serve as the central administration providing support to Michigan’s eleven HFA Sites. As the central administration team, we provide leadership to the local affiliates by meeting the expectations of the HFA National Office’s (HFANO) identified functional areas:
Functional Areas:
- Policy
- Training
- Quality assurance
- Technical assistance
- Evaluation/Research
- Administration
The central administration supports local affiliates to achieve and maintain quality implementation through communities of practice, trainings and technical assistance. We work in collaboration with the HFANO to strengthen service delivery to families.
The eleven local programs in the Healthy Families Michigan system, located throughout the state, include home visitors (Family Resource Specialists and Family Support Specialists), Supervisors, and Program Managers. Healthy Families Michigan programs serve families with expectant parents and children up to 3 to 5 years of age, depending on the individual program.
Family participation in HFM home visiting is voluntary and free. Home visitors partner with caregivers to provide support, encouragement, guidance and education.
